Our school ‘Karaman High School’ with the help of Spain-Leon ‘Ies Sanches Albornos School’ and Poland-Szczecin ‘X-Liceu Ogolnoksztalcace School’ and under the coordination of Italy had prepared a project on the european scientist and this project was accepted by the Comenious School Partnership.
The 1st meeting of our project was held in Spain between 24th and 28th November in 2009.The contact person of Karaman High School Hasan Hüseyin Yıldırım and the team member of the project Mümin Uzman participated in the meeting.
The activities were intended before the meeting and the activities were done after the meeting;
A)The activities were intended to:
- determining the activities during the project
- determining the visiting dates between the participant countries in 2008 to 2010.
- the host school’s programme included both the project programme and visitings around the historical-cultural areas in leisure times.
- sharing the ideas on preparing brochures and DVDs about the European Scientists.
-choosing the scientists for each school that would be studied on them.
B)The activities during the meeting:
- the project programme was held by the host school
-it was determined that each country would study on at least 2 scientists.
- it was determined that the studies on the scientists would be done under the laboratory environment and these experiments could be recorded by a video camera.
- then these video records would be watched to the students.
-it was determined that the project logo would be prepared by Karaman High School.
- it was determined that the students of each school would be in a communication with each other and the studies could be published on the websites of school.
- the trips around the historical-cultural places were occured according to the programme of host school.
- it was determined to provide at least a teacher knows a foreign language who participate in the project meetings in addition to the project manager.
- The date and the countries were decided.According to the programme,the next meeting would be in Italy in April 2009,the third meeting in the 1st week of October in Poland and the last meeting in April 2010 in Turkey.
Our second meeting was held between 19th and 24th April in Italy.
The activities were intended before the meeting and the activities were done after the meeting
A) To do list before the meeting:
- Choosing the students
- Giving these students an english course
- preparing brochures about the scientists which include some information about them.
- Recording the experiments.
- providing the coordination between the students on the project by web
B)The activities during the meeting:
- Each scientists had been selected by the project partners were discussed and a presentation about the scientist was performed with the participation of all students and project members,also some information was given to the participants.
- After giving information ,the project partners workouts were watched and followed (Italy-Galileo ‘Inclined Plane Experiment’;Spain-Kardiolog Dr.Valentin Fuster’s Studies’;Poland-Genetic Speacialist Prof.Labinski’s life and studies,Karaman High School’s workouts on the scientists had been prepared in the laboratory-Faraday and Joule’s studies)
-The presentations of each school about their school’s information was watched with all participants.
- The decision at the first meeting was retold ‘on admitting some information about the works of the project team of the schools to the websites’
-The experiment named ‘ Rocket Working Principles’ was applied to all participating teachers and students which prepared by the coordinator school.
- The 3rd meeting was agreed to be held in Poland in October.
3.The 3rd meeting was held in Poland-Szczcein between 11the and 17th October 2009
a)The activities before the meeting:
-choosing the students
-Giving an english course to the students
-giving information about Poland and international travel
-recording the experiments by a video camera
- providing the coordination between the students on the project by web
b)the activities during the meeting
-some information was given about the selected scientists by the project partners
-the studies so far was commented
-The science museum was visited and an application was done on the prototypes of the scientists’ studies.
-Historical and cultaral places were visited.
-an observation was made by using a telescope on the highest tower of the city.
-It was decided to make an observation on a clear day in the 3rd week of December for the observation of the stars,then the results could be send to the partners.
-It was decided to prepare a common website for the project partnership and to add the studies on the website regularly
-The last meeting was agreed to be held in Turkey during April 2010.
